Veterinarians

Robin Crossman

Robin Crossman

DVM

Dr. Robin Crossman, who is the sole owner of Otterside Animal Hospital, graduated from the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. He has practiced small animal medicine locally for over 30 years. He and his wife, Melissa have six children and two grandchildren. Dr. Crossman trains and participates in extreme endurance sporting events. Currently they own two dogs.

Susan Hayden

Dr. Hayden graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1973. She and her husband, Arden Hayden, DDS, practiced in rural Pennsylvania until 1977, when they moved to Sudbury, VT. Dr. Hayden began her practice at her home and moved to the current location in 1998. Dr. Hayden and her husband, who passed away in 2004, raised 6 boys and currently have 11, soon to be 12 grandchildren. She has a French Bulldog, Marv; 2 cats, Greta and Rio; a Red bellied parrot named Tommy, and chickens. In her free time, Dr. Hayden spends a lot of time with her grandchildren, loves to travel, cook and is an avid birder.

Director of Medical Operations and Veterinary Technician/Surgical Assistant

Ashley started at Otterside in January of 2018 as a surgical, floating, and appointment technician. Prior to that she worked at an emergency practice in Rutland. She has a BS in Animal Science from the University of Vermont, with a minor in Ecological Agriculture. Her love of animals and Veterinary medicine started at a young age on her family’s dairy farm and sugar bush. She grew up raising beef and dairy cows as well as making maple syrup. Some of her earliest memories are of watching and assisting with veterinary care for her families herd. When she is not at Otterside, you can find her fishing in Vermont or Maine, or hiking with her German Shorthaired Pointer, Jameson.

Daily Operations Manager

Audrey graduated from Community College of Vermont with an associate degree in business. With background in management, she joined the Otterside Animal Hospital team in the fall of 2023 and is proud to become daily operations manager. When she isn’t working, she can be found going for walks with her rescue Pitbull, Yoshi and spending time with her horses.

Veterinary Technician

Zoe has worked as a Vet Tech since 1987 in various clinics, landing at Otterside in 2017. She has two adult sons, Kenny and Travis with her husband of 32 years Charlie. They have 2 dogs, and their doors are always open to a variety of foster animals. In her free time she enjoys hiking, kayaking, gardening, traveling, motorcycle rides and photography.

Lindsay

Veterinary Technician

A lifelong animal lover, Lindsay’s career in veterinary medicine started in 2010 and has provided an array of opportunities and experiences.

She has worked in large and small animal emergency care, exotic and small animal routine care and surgery, rescue, and shelter medicine.

Lindsay has fostered, rescued, and rehabilitated critters of all sizes and enjoys working closely with animal trainers and advocates to provide the best quality of life to each and every animal she meets.

Lindsay, her husband Thane and their daughter Kinnley live in Mendon with their German Shepherd, Reale, their Field Lab, Taz and two kitties, RiffRaff and Tré. They also have a barn full of horses, a donkey, a goat, and a flock of chickens.

In her spare time, you can find Lindsay hiking and skiing and enjoying time with her family.

Veterinary Technician

Janet has been a veterinary technician for the past three years and has her BS in Animal Science from the University of Vermont. She just recently moved back to Vermont to be closer to her family. She has a Great Pyrenees mix named Basil at home. In her off time, she enjoys reading, collecting house plants, hiking with her pup, making home improvements, and maintaining her family’s property.

Administration/ Retired Veterinary Technician

​Vickie has worked at Otterside Animal Hospital for over 25 years. She grew up in Central New York and lived in Oregon for seven years before finally settling in Brandon, VT. She has two grown sons and three grandchildren. Vickie trains her French Bulldogs and shows them in both AKC Conformation and Performance Trials. She belongs to the French Bulldog Club of America. In her spare time, Vickie enjoys kayaking, dog training, and exploring in her new motor home.

Jayne

Receptionist

Jayne grew up in a small town just north of New York City. She slowly moved her way up the Hudson Valley and by 2004 landed in Vermont. She has 2 beautiful granddaughters, a Golden Retriever named Puppet and 2 cats, Little Man and BooBoo. She has been with Otterside since October 2018, but has been working in the veterinary field since 2004.
